Pediatric rehab program helps toddler thrive with compassionate, expert care
Bo's family travels a distance to TriStar Centennial every weekday, for the therapy he has received there since he was five months old.
On any given weekday, you can find Bo Marvin and his family at TriStar Centennial Children’s Hospital. After a 74-day NICU stay, Bo needed the support and expertise of the pediatric rehabilitation program at the hospital to help him develop his fine and gross motor skills and speech processes. The team quickly became an extension of his family, providing professional expertise and encouragement to both their tiny patient and his family.
“He had a long way to go, but every day felt like a win,” said Misty Meadows, Bo’s mother.
Since he was five months old, Bo has been receiving feeding therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy with the TriStar Centennial team. “Bo is so fun. He has the best personality,” said Jackie, occupational therapist at TriStar Centennial Children’s Hospital.
Bo quickly began building relationships with each therapist he worked with. The family drives an hour each way Monday through Friday because of the family atmosphere and compassionate care he receives.
“We call him the mayor of the clinic around here,” said Courtney, one of Bo’s physical therapists. “He knows everyone’s names and will greet each therapist or doctor with a ‘hi’ and make sure to say ‘bye’ before he leaves.”
“We owe all of his success so far to this team at TriStar Centennial,” said Misty. “We could go to therapy closer to home, but we would not have it any other way. This team is his family, and Bo loves coming,” Misty stated.
Misty says the entire rehabilitation team at TriStar Centennial has had a huge impact on how far Bo has come. He is now three years old and thriving, and he recently started walking on his own.
“We are so proud of Bo and so thankful for TriStar Centennial,” states Misty.
