A TriStar Hendersonville patient from Westmoreland is grateful for the quick-thinking actions of one of his nurses. Sherry Jensen, RN, noticed that one of her patients, Gary Ennis, was not doing well. He began to show signs of an internal bleed, and she took immediate action that prevented a potentially life-threatening situation for Ennis.

“I was close to death, and thanks to the skilled team here, they brought me back,” said Ennis. “From the day I walked in for surgery until the day I left, everyone was respectful and caring, had good attitudes, and treated me like a person. Everyone greeted me with a smile and truly seemed happy to be there. I am thankful, and I couldn’t have asked for better care. Under the circumstances, they put me at ease and made me feel like I was family.”

Ennis is now home and recovering following his surgical procedure and five-day stay at TriStar Hendersonville. Ennis said that during his stay, he promised to be the best patient he could be because of the care and kindness of the staff.

“We are committed to fostering a culture of safety, with the end goal of reducing and eliminating undue suffering for our patients,” said Lisa Hochstetler, chief nursing officer. “Sherry displayed this by having a connection and knowing her patient, which allowed her to act quickly.”
